200 Bank Failures Expected in 2010
by Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D.

Washington has so thoroughly botched its supervision of the banking industry that 200 banks are likely to fail this year — easily surpassing last year's 140 bank failures ... inevitably involving the greatest bank losses in history ... and already costing the FDIC ten times more than the great S&L and banking crisis of the 1980s did.
I am not basing these conclusions on conjecture. They come straight from official sources. Specifically ...
In her testimony before the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission on Thursday, FDIC Chairman Blair attacked the Fed under Greenspan for causing the housing bubble and subsequent debt crisis with its highly stimulative, low interest rate policy of the 2000s.
She slammed virtually all of Washington for allowing banks to establish a huge, high-risk "shadow banking system."
And she made it abundantly clear… read more

SAREIA Free House Fund

Free House Committee Announces NEW Raffle Winner

By Kathleen Fry

Congratulations to raffle ticket holder Lynn Hogan! Lynn’s name was the lucky draw at the January 8th general membership meeting and was just shipped her winning prizes! With true investor entrepreneur intent, Lynn chose an educational program over the flat screen TV. She is now the proud owner of a complete home staging program.

To date, SAREIA members and friends have helped raise 18% of the $50,000.00 goal raising over $9700.00. Once the goal is reached, the Free House Committee will acquire and rehab a house to be given away to a needy and deserving family in a grand community celebration event.

The Free House Committee members recognize and thank the following individuals and companies for their generous support of this exciting project:

SAREIA guest speaker Larry Goins purchased ten raffle tickets and then purchased another 30 tickets for those who purchased his program after his (November?) presentation. When he won the first raffle, he donated his prize back to SAREIA! Way to go Larry Goins!

Free House committee member Marsha Bane provided some important FHF printing and promotional materials. She also donated a home inspection certificate courtesy of Jimmy D. Wiley from Gold Star Home Inspection Services. In addition, Marsha donated a dinner for two gift certificate at the Pompeii Italian Grill. Thank you Marsha!

Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Brian McCoy, Chairman and President of McCoy’s Lumber company, his company is donating the materials for the Free House rehab! This is a significant help toward the Free House Fund rehabbing costs. Thanks and double thanks Mr. McCoy!

APIA’s Gloria Kelly is providing vacant house insurance for the house once it is acquired!

Mission Landscaping’s Eddie Ortiz is donating landscaping services for the Free House!

Nathan Long of Entrust will provide his entire proceeds for a self-directed IRA seminar he will be teaching on February 13th. This MCE approved class costs $29.00 per student.

Bob and Shelia Morse of HouseFixers have offered their home rehab evaluation expertise to the project.

The Walthall Foundation, with the help of Kathleen Fry, trustee, provided a $3,000.00 grant to the Free House Fund.

Can you drive a nail, fix a roof, raise money, promote a worthy cause, inspect a house? SAREIA members are invited and encouraged to share their time and talents with the fabulous Free House project. You don’t have to join the committee to help! If you would like to join the committee, meetings take place every other Monday evening at the Mitch Steven SAREIA office.

Will you help a needy family in San Antonio with a new home? - We will!

Louis Drott presents Alternative Financing, Clients With More Than Four Financed Properties Can Purchase As Many As They Qualify For:

The business of real estate investing begins with the business of finance. As a "flipper" of real estate, it is imperative that you have a mortgage broker/advsior that understands what your goals are and how to best leverage lending programs that meet those goals. To say Louis Drott thinks outside the box is an understatement.....His answer would be, "What Box?"
